I recently bought this dive computer and can’t believe how easy and intuitive the user-interface is. It’s has a super bright screen, capable of multi-gs dives, or simple vacation diving. The styling is great too. The battery life is excellent. I’ve had no issues with the computer, but from what I have read Shearwater has excellent customer service. It’s expensive, but for something that is used to keep you alive, it is worth it. You get what you pay for.

Shearwater Teric Review: Key Features and Functions

5 Dive Modes: Including Strong Freediving features
Shearwater was able to pack 5 dive modes in this tiny computer, allowing for endless dive possibilities.
- Recreational – This mode is used for diving with standard air or Nitrox mixes to 99%.
- Technical – This mode is used to make decompression calculations when diving with Trimix.
- Rebreather -used when diving with a Closed-Circuity system like rebreathers.
- Guage – In this mode, the computer will take time, depth, and can act as a resettable stopwatch, but will not make any decompression calculations.
- Freediving – this mode is used for apnea diving and will take your depth and time at different sample rates.
Some emphasis on freediving was made when designing Teric, Unlike other dive computers with freediving mode. You can enable haptic (vibration and audible alarms), and configure the sampling rate to get a more accurate reading of your true depth.
Like all Shearwater dive computers, it also uses the Buhlmann ZHL-16C algorithm and allows you to set the dive computer to a number of different preset gradient factors or allow you to fully customize your setting.
Two adjustable layouts for each dive mode
Bright AMOLED Display
The AMOLED Display on the Teric provides a brighter and crisper image than other dive computer’s color screen. It also uses less power, making it operate long between charges.
The stylish 1.39″ display with deep blacks make it easy to read the computer, even while in direct sunlight. When diving, the screen can also be customized to show only the information you find important, uncluttering the display. The other information can be retrieved by the press of a button.
The screen is also protected by a sapphire crystal cover that prevents unwanted scratches and keeps your computer looking pristine for longer.

Wireless Recharge Battery
The Shearwater Teric can be charged wirelessly with the included QI charging cradle. Once in the cradle, the screen turns a full 90 degrees to make a great bedside clock.
With a full charge, you should easily get 30hrs dive mode and 50 hrs if you’re in the watch mode. Charge time is around 1 1/2 hours when the quick charge is enabled and about 3 1/2 hours when it is not.
Strong Watch Features
The watch also features a programmable timer, alarms, and stopwatch. You can easily customize the watch face to match your personal preference and style. There are three styles to choose from, these are digital, analog, and orbital, as well 15 different watch face color to choose from.

Optional Air Integrated
The Teric is also Air Integrated, you can pair up to two wireless transmitters to display your current cylinder pressure, gas time remaining, and SAC rate.
It can pair with any Pelagic-based transmitter, these also include Aqua Lung and Oceanic transmitters.
Full Tilt Compensated Compass
The Teric also features a full-tilt compensated compass, allowing you to get a true reading no matter what angle you hold the dive computer.

Stylish Design
There are 15 different strap designs and colors to choose from, one to match every occasion. There are also 15 different display colors to match the straps you use. The bezel is stainless steel and comes in three different colors.
Logbook and Bluetooth Connectivity
The Teric logbook can store up to 500 hours (sample rate of 10 seconds) of dive time, so you don’t have to worry about deleting dives for your next dive trip.
You can also easily upload all your dive data to a smart device using Bluetooth Smart Technology. The app is fully customizable, easy to use, and full of useful information.
It also provides a great way to download firmware updates for Shearwater, ensure your dive computer stays up to date.

The Shearwater Teric is a fantastic dive computer that’s easy to use. When switching from my previous dive computer I was skeptical about pressing the button while wearing tick glover, but I was able to open up the compass without any issue in my 5mm gloves.

The Teric was designed with technical divers in mind and does a good job at that. However, because it is simple and easy to use, even beginner divers can understand how to use it.
As you progress as a diver, you can set the screen to show more information or change dive mode to show exactly what you want.
It is also a watch-sized dive computer, which means you will wear it all the time and will be preferred by divers who are more active.
