Mares Avanti Quattro Review: Key Features and Benefits

Channel Thrust Technology System

The channels that are built into these fins help to optimize water channeling. In other words, they help to reduce drag and increase thrust, thus allowing for relatively fast movement. They help to ensure that there is minimal fatigue while swimming long distances. It is a great addition for any scuba fins to have.

Quick Release

The addition of the quick-release straps to these fins is pretty neat. The bungee material is quite stretchy and flexible. This helps to provide a really snug fit, so the fins won’t come loose. At the same time, the quick-release and adjustable buckles help to provide you with the perfect fit, plus they are really easy to put on and take off.

Comfortable Foot-Pocket

The anatomically designed foot pocket is designed with ergonomics in mind. The foot pocket on the Mares Avanti Quattro Plus Fins is designed to be as comfortable as can be. At the same time, the design is also meant to keep your feet in place and keep the fins secure while swimming. This is great for thrust and maneuvering alike.

High-flex Materials

The Mares Avanti Quattro Plus Fins are made with Mares’ high-flex materials to provide you with the optimal balance of thrust, stability, performance, and maneuvering. There is also the fact that these materials are designed to be extremely tough and durable.

Mares Avanti Quattro Review: Our Rating

Design: 8

They have a great mix of flex and stiffness for optimal performance; the channel design helps.

Functionality: 9

These fins work well in most conditions. They are not the best for really demanding waters, but other than that, they are great.

Durability: 9

These fins are quite durable; made from really strong materials. It does not feel cheap

Price: 8

While these are not the most expensive fins out there, they are also not the cheapest, but offers great value for the money.

What We Like

We like how the Mares Avanti Quattro Plus Fins are made with really strong and somewhat flexible materials. They are proven to be very durable and last for a long time. The material is strong and stiff enough for optimal thrust and performance, but also flexible enough to allow you to maneuver easily.

We like the channel technology used here because it helps to reduce the drag you experience. Reducing drag helps to increase overall thrust and speed, plus it helps keep fatigue at bay.

We like the adjustable easy-release heel straps. These make it really easy to take the Mares Avanti Quattro Plus Fins off and put them on. Also, the ergonomically and anatomically designed foot pocket allows for a really comfortable and snug fit, with minimal internal movement.

We like how these fins are ideal for most diving conditions due to their high level of versatility.

What We Don’t Like

One drawback that these fins suffer is that they have no drainage in the foot pocket. The foot pocket tends to fill up with water, thus increasing drag, weight, and making it harder to move forward.

Some people have said that they are a little heavy, something which we are inclined to agree with.

Who Are These Scuba Fins Designed For?

The Mares Avanti Quattro Plus Fins are great for most casual scuba divers. They have a high level of performance, but they are not meant for extremely demanding waters. As you might be able to tell from the price, while they are a great product, they are not the fanciest fins available. They are great for anybody who wants to do some diving, even in some pretty strong currents, but are definitely only recreational in nature.
