Aqualung Scuba Gear Reviews
Aqualung was founded in 1942 by Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Émile Gagnan in France. Cousteau, an ocean explorer, needed better diving equipment to study underwater for extended periods. Together with Gagnan, an engineer, they developed the first open-circuit self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA). Their innovative device allowed divers to breathe compressed air from tanks carried on their backs.
In 1959, Cousteau and Gagnan licensed their patent to the U.S. Divers Company. U.S. Divers began manufacturing and marketing “Aqualung” branded scuba gear. Through the 1960s, Aqualung equipment was used by professional divers as well as sport divers exploring the exciting new world under the sea.
Today, Aqualung is one of the most trusted and well-known names in scuba diving. Based in the U.S., Aqualung designs and manufactures a full range of diving equipment including regulators, buoyancy control devices, instruments, wetsuits, and accessories. Their gear incorporates cutting-edge technology for performance and safety. Aqualung also has a strong focus on conservation and sustainability initiatives across the dive industry.
With a legacy of underwater innovation spanning over 80 years, Aqualung continues to be a leader in scuba technology. Their high-quality gear provides comfort, reliability, and versatility for divers at any level to maximize time underwater. Aqualung’s pioneering spirit lives on through its mission to inspire and enable more people to explore the underwater world.
